Manesh Chellaram

Born and brought up in Cosmopolitan Hong Kong, Manesh completed his secondary schooling at South Island School & excelled in Art. He completed a foundation course at the University of the Creative Arts in Canterbury, Kent followed with a BA (Hons) Degree in Architecture. His passion for food & enjoying the finer things in life led him to travel frequently and upon graduating in 2004, Manesh spent a year practicing architecture in London and simultaneously experienced the hip & award winning restaurants & cuisines. After a short stint in London, he returned to H.K. to continue the legacy of D.Chellaram which dates back to 1860 and is now running in its 7th generation. The company was one of the pioneers of import & export trade and had the foresight of bringing the Wimpy franchise to Hong Kong over half a century ago under the family’s concern Chellaram Foods Limited.

Manesh’s exposure to the food & beverage industry, appreciation for design, passion for food and wanting to share his experiences to enhance Hong Kong’s dining scene led him to co-found the 8 creATEive Collective which operates multiple award winning restaurants; Amalfitana Artisan Pizza Bar, Fratelli Artisan Pasta Bar, Rummin’ Tings & cloud kitchen brand Uncle Momo.

Manesh was honoured to be recognized in Prestige Magazine’s ‘40 under 40’ list, their annual roster of young achievers in 2020 in the restaurateur category. Manesh is also a core group member of
The Save Hong Kong F & B alliance.

During his personal time, Manesh enjoys reading, globetrotting, exploring new cuisines, using the gym and jogging where he sits on the committee for the F & B Run Club.

Apart from this, having an eye for detail and a great passion of the process from inception to completion of all things creative, Manesh was inspired to launch his own brand of Manesh Manolo Bespoke clothing in 2007 which is responsible for the uniforms of top restaurants and bars worldwide.
